We are not closing !

Good morning,

since it seems that some people, including bloggers, are confused about this, let me make things clear : [VIRTUAL/INSANITY] is NOT closing.

Recently, a ton of stores, and especially still young ones, have been organizing closing sale ou retirement sales before closing. This is not our case.

As the poster mentions it, we WILL be retiring some OLDER items because we need to make room for new collections.
[VIRTUAL/INSANITY] will be 3 years old in february and this means that we have been working on more items than anyone can think of.
During the past three years, we have been in a constant evolution : our skills got improved and our style changed. There is no room anymore in the store for some of our items and some others have to be revamped.

This is the ONLY aim of that sale.
The day we will be closing, if it ever happens, you'll be informed about it.

But this is definitely not the case.

PS : I also know that a lot of stores have been accused of organizing CLOSING sales when they weren't closing at all or re-opened a few days after. This is not what we are doing. So please understand it and if your blog contains a false information saying that we are closing, please, correct it. Thank you.

We are retiring about 80 items from our shelves to make a bit of room.
Some will be discontinued and gone forever and some others will be revamped to fit our current skill level & style.

Hunts & Respect

Good morning,

just a quick note about respect during hunts.

Everyone who knows the store since a while and have seen me working knows how much respect is important to me as a designer but also as a human being.
It starts by little things like keeping a smooth customer service, having a fair pricing policy, offering a good description of the items so that you know what you are purchasing and also, as long as I decide to be active in the hunts world, giving out quality gifts.

While some stores as old as mine would only participate to a few hunts a year, I keep active every month in at least one hunt so that there is always something free to get at my store. The advantages of participating to hunts are multiple :

You make some people happy by giving out an item they'll love and yet, you can't please everyone but, sticking to your style, you try to bring something special to them, for free or for a very cheap price.
You also attract new people to your store, because each time, some hunters will be the same ones but there will always be new people to discover what you make and, after all, what we are looking for is to share what we create with a maximum of people.
If you chose to take the needed time and energy to create a quality item, you'll be rewarded because people will notice that your store has great products and will eventually come back.
You also spread your landmark around and that means again that people will eventually visit your store again and maybe find something they like in your whole collection.

Satisfaction is first in the fact to GIVE out something you created especially for the hunt, that you most likely won't resell and then, of course, if that can bring you to see your products loved by hunters, that's the cherry.

Of course, as I spend so much time at saying it since I started working on my project, [VIRTUAL/INSANITY], creating an original and quality item is something that takes time, energy and money too, sometimes.
So, if on my side, I spend all of this to bring something free for customers, I expect that they at least respect my work in return.

Let's make things clear : respect doesn't mean to love something you don't love. I have well conscience that most of the hunters will drop a good part of the items they are given away while hunting when they'll be unpacking it. And really, what would a guy make with snowflake earrings and a goth girl of a pink bra ?
You can't please everyone and taste is a personal matter.

What I mean by respect is just, as a hunter, having conscience that a designer is not a greedy scrounger just looking for traffic and linden. There probably will always be some to be that way, and most often they'll also be unable to produce original designs, so they'll be easily recognizable, but the truth is that most of us give a huge part of their real life time just to bring something great on the grid and believe me, that time, if it was given to a real job, would be way more productive in terms of money to me.

Respect is therefore to me, a way to understand what a designer is.
But it is also a way to act.

When you're rezzing an item for 0L, you can't control who will be able to pick it up or not, except with your ban list.
You can't make sure that people gave some time and energy searching, just like you gave time and energy building.

The aim, in a hunt, though, is to search for the items, just like we did it in our garden for Easter when we were kids.
The aim is to meet new people, to discover new places, to look around the store's items, and to be happy at finding the item.

So much hunters complain about the time it takes to find a hunt item and yet, I can understand because before I stopped having time to do so, I was doing it and it was hugely frustrating of looking for a gift for 2 hours and never finding it.
On the other hand, we have to also admit that it became harder and harder to get people to look for the gift and so, we have to hide it at spots where it is harder to find.

There are technically 10 ways to cheat during a hunt, so that you don't have to look for the gift yourself.
There are however more rude and disrespectful way to cheat than others.

My policy was always to say : you can't forbid someone to cheat but yet you can make it more complicated to do so by setting decoys, by changing the name of the object, by banning those who shout the location of the item in your store, ... But yet you can't be sure they will look. So if they do it silently, without ruining the fun of the ones who REALLY hunt, it's yet better.

However, during the past nearly-three-years, I've been noticing some absolutely disrespectful behaviors :

Shouting the object location or asking out loud where the item is,
IMing other hunters or shoppers to ask where the gift is,
Making direct Slurls lists to the hunt objects and dropping it on a blog or on a notecard,
Using this,
Insulting a designer on the hunt group chat,
Insulting what a designer created,
Reacting violently when asked to stop.

The SLURLs list problem is not stopping since more than a year. You'll notice someone landing on your sim, then walking directly to the hunt object then poofing away. This is OBVIOUS when that happens that a SLURLs list is being spread around. No choice then that to move the hunt item around and to try to find out who created the list to ban them asap.

This is just PURE rudeness to use that kind of list.
If a hunt was meant that way, we would just rez our gifts at one central location and we would call it a freebie spot.

However, I still believe that a hunt can be funnier than that, that it can be a good way to meet people, to discover new places, to have fun and to get free stuff, all at once.
So why ruining it all ? Just to get free stuff ? And so, designers are the greedy ones ?

To finish, I'd like to share here some nice comments that we get when we ask to someone to stop using a SLURLs list, or else, he will get banned and reported to the hunt organizer. Hide your eyes if you're sensitive :
"but if you're gonna be some kinda bitchy turd then FINE ban my ass!!!"
"so you sign up for a hunt to draw traffic then bitch at the p[eople for coming into your store????"
"you stuff is all crap anyways and you are a psychotic bitch so please do me a favor aand ban me ok?"
"and your momma raised a skank ho"

Nice ! That makes you want to give freebies <3.
But I'm not going to punish 1000 good hunters for 1 or 2 sick ones, so feel reassured, I'll keep on handling stuff like these... I wish I wouldn't have to.

Please report to me any SLURLs list showing the direct links to a hunt item, report me any IM someone sends you at my store asking for a hunt object location, any lack of respect.

TWISTED KRISSMUSS IS BACK AGAIN !

For the third year, [VIRTUAL/INSANITY] is participating to Twisted Krismuss, an event created by the Twisted Hunt's organizers.

And no, this is NOT a hunt. A ton of designers will place at their main location a kyosk with new products for 100L.

These products are supposed to be transferable so that it can be GIFTED.

The aim is therefore to gift items to your friends, family, people you love inworld.

This year, I decided to leave the ability to the customer to get the item TRANS/MOD or COPY/MOD. Since I make MOD items that may need adjustment (nails & earplugs), it's always nice to be able to get a copy version instead of a trans one.

You therefore have the choice between gifting or keeping the items for yourself !

Xmas is also always a good moment for me to compare my work with the previous years' work and let's say that I'm happy of what I'm bringing this year and I hope you also will !

All of the items are XMAS themed so of course, it will only be wearable through the XMAS times. But feel free to check out our Xstreet/Marketplace store. You'll be able to send there some gifts to your friends !

With the precious help of Dagmar Haiku, Paco Pooley and Manuel Ormidale, we are for the first time starting an exhibition in Second Life.
We are way more used to RL exhibitions so this will be really something new to us.

The "we", also known as [INSANE/FOCUS], represent us, Loviathar Hellman & Moolfryt Klang and we also are [VIRTUAL/INSANITY]'s owner, main designer & assistant designer.

But what kind of exhibition is this one going to be ?
Since more than five years, Moolfryt Klang (my husband in the real world) and myself have been working on a couple project. We are amateur but passionate photographers, have been investing in professional tools in the aim to create our whole collection of photographies.

This is simply a couple work, a common passion. We travel through Europe with our cameras and other tools and, on the reportage mode, shoot everything that attracts our attention.
We also overwork our pictures by computer in the aim to bring our personal touch to it.
When one shoots, the other one overworks and we blend our work in each other's, to the point that we forget who made what.

We are inspired by nature, geometry, urban culture, architecture, esthetism and ugliness but also by vintage style, some darkness and big controversial themes such as ecology, politics, poverty and religion.

You'll find some pictures taken in France, Belgium and in the United Kingdom at this exhibition.

The art gallery's name is L4A - Lust 4 Art.

We will have a vernissage or opening party on Friday the 25th Nov 2011 at 11AM with DJ Demonica Bade.

For this occasion, we'll try to provide some exclusive gift by [VIRTUAL/INSANITY].

Let's also mention that our pictures and frames are for sale in case anyone would like to bring some home.

About the use of sculpt maps, scripts & programs in Second Life design.

Just a quick note about the use of sculpts maps, scripts & programs in Second Life design.

Until a few hours ago, it looked obvious to me that everyone had conscience on the grid that an item released by a store is the result of the work of MORE than one designer.

What does that mean ?
Let's take the example of a necklace.

To make a necklace, you'll use :
1) the basic SL prims created by Linden Labs that you can use as is, mod it or transform as a sculpt, using a sculpt map.
2) this sculpt map, you can create it using a sculpts program like blender for example or purchase it to a sculpts maps store such as Ghanie Lane, Jabberwocky, Xoph or Bejambled. You can also order a customer work to a sculptor. The sculptor will then give you full rights on his creation so you can add it to your creation.
3) textures can be created by yourself using a program like gimp or photoshop, or then again you can eventually purchase it. In the case of clothing, some designers will purchase templates that will help them drawing the general shape of the item they want to create and then will modify it.
4) To script your item for color/texture change, you'll use the help of a scripter if you're not a scripter yourself. You can ask for a custom or buy a premade one.
5) No one can help you at :
A- Texturing your item properly,
B- Grabbing X, Y, Z prims, modifying it, putting it together so that it looks like a necklace,
C- Making your vendor (except if you get a photographer's help),
D- Advertising it.

A finished product is therefore the result of the work of :
- The designer of the store,
- The sculpter,
- The scripter,
- Linden Labs, that provided the media on which we are creating the item, and the basic prims, the tools,
- The person who created the texture or the template,
- Photoshop, Gimp, Blender's creators,
all of that depending on your way to work.

For each product originally created by someone else, you'll pay their work by purchasing it full perm and you'll respect some RULES they are writing themselves. For example, you can't give freebies including full perm sculpts from some sculpt stores.

In [VIRTUAL/INSANITY]'s case,

- A part of our sculpts are created by ourselves and another part is purchased to more talented people such as the ones named above,

Our products are therefore, as for 99% of the content on SL, the result of the work of more than one person.

Our official position about the use of products in the aim to create a finished product is as is :
When you purchase a product made by [VIRTUAL/INSANITY], you'll pay the work we put in texturing the item, in setting the prims together, in making of it an original product. Your money will cover the charges we are meeting while building.

We are AGAINST the use as is of premade products (business in a box, templates) if there is no quality overwork on top of it.

We are FOR the use of PURCHASED products to other parts as long as these products are, indeed, not stolen, overworked & as long as the designer doesn't try to hide the use of these products.

I'm explaining this in the aim to make things clear, since it seems that this is understood in a wrong way by some residents.

Would no one on the grid use someone else's work, the grid would be empty.

Marketplace Update

I've got to admit that the last 2 days have been a huge torture for me cos' I definitely HATE administration work such as this one... But with Loulou&co's owner kicking me in the butt to do it, I finally started updating the Marketplace. Alleluia some might say !

At the moment, only a few items are available including the full Black Swan collection & the full female nails collection. I'm going to update more in the next few days if I find the time to do so but I also need some time to build.

Anyway, it means that not only you don't have to tp anymore to purchase some stuff but also that ALL of those items are now giftable from the point of purchase (not transferable, as always).

[BUG/ALERT] AAAAAH

Just a little warning for those who play with vendors & posters regularly and to customers who tried to purchase my Woeful Wednesday item.

Yesterday, I was having two events : Grenade Free Wednesday @Jersey Shore sim and Woeful Wednesday at the mainstore.
I took a copy of my original GFW item and rezzed it at Jersey Shore sim.
For the Woeful Wednesday one, I just dragged and dropped a copy of the item on my events tables.
My vendors are always set as GIVE CONTENTS. The reason why I copy my vendors instead of creating a new one is that it's less work & it's easier that way cos the properties remain the same.

When I woke up this morning, I had some notecards from customers wondering why they weren't able to buy my Woeful Wednesday item.
I checked and found out that it now belonged to another avatar.
I understood that the vendor was therefore accidentally set on GIVE ORIGINAL instead of GIVE CONTENTS when the customer purchased it.
I returned the item to the new owner of the vendor and I'm going to contact her about this.

At Jersey Shore : same problem but even weirder. The item was set as GIVE COPY. Means that instead of getting a folder, the customers are getting a copy of the poster. That's not so much of a problem even though I prefer them to do not have to unpack anything.

What does that mean ?
1) I may be a sleepwalker.
2) A cornwall pixie decided to make fun of me early in the morning and I therefore need a chainsaw.
3) Or then, the most logic explaination, SL is having a bug.

Let's also say that it's IMPOSSIBLE that someone who has your MOD rights changes those properties cos they don't have access to it, it's greyed out.

I just wanted to share this with you so that :
1) customers know that everything is fine now and that the items are available for 24 more hours so everyone can has time to get the items,
2) merchants are informed that this can happen and have to be extra cautious when they copy a vendor.

That being said, I'm gonna remake a coffee cos mine is cold.

There we go. I wanted to try to make a clothing item since long but I never really had seriously thought about it. A lot of people told me recently that I should start. But I was scared of not having enough graphic skills to do so. However, let's say that if you don't try, you can't know... So I tried and this is the result of my work.
I chosed to gift this item to the fans group and not to sell it because I think that my customers' opinion is great to hear and that the stores' fans group members are the ones who know my work the best.
Constructive opinions are therefore welcome.

Ohaiiii dear customers of mine <3.

You're aware that tomorrow is october.
And october is a HUGE month for SL events due to Halloween of course !

We'll have a lot going on during the month but I'm just gonna talk about what's starting tomorrow.

Let's start with TOSL. This is not a seasonal event but a weekly event. This week's theme was : outdoor.
I chosed flowers ! Cos well, flowers grow... outdoor ?!. Smart uh?! :D

The item comes scripted with tons of options. It had a good success when it was released a few months ago so I hope that those who don't have it yet will enjoy it.

Jersey Shore is also having a HUNT for Halloween, the Fright Hunt starting at midnight ! I don't have a preview pic of the item but I can tell you that if you loved our kitty galore nails, you'll love the gift !

Starting Oct 1st too, The TOSL hunt 2 ! A hunt brang by the TOSL team. You'll find RINGS as gifts for the hunt ! A hint ? It's boxed ! :D

Tales or Terror is also starting at midnight. I can't however tell yet where my gift will be since I have no clue yet of where to rez it. I'll give you heads up asap about this !

There is also a mini event @American Bazaar's new sim for Halloween with a bag to get for 50L. No preview is available but it's our oddball bags in orange for Halloween, an exclusive version. American Bazaar's sim link is available on the left side of this blog under "stores".

What else ? Well, we have a new Earplugs pack as mentioned on a previous blog.

A word about The Rumor

Good advertising, bad advertising, still advertising some might say.

It came to my ears tonight that The Rumor team finally understood, after more than a month, that they are not welcome at my store anymore.
Congratulations !
My reasons have been more than explained in a previous blog posted here but let me summarize and yet overtalk.

Since I've been on the grid, my aim has always been to bring something personal & creative. The aim was never to make buckets of money cos I can objectively say that if that was the case, my RL grade would make me earn much more, practiced on the same schedule as my SL work. Nope, the aim has always been to develop skills in graphism & to deal with my own project, something I had never done before even in my very complete RL work life. I always had felt that something was missing in my life and that was probably to get out of the intellectual job I'm doing to create something with my hands. Even though it had to be done through a computer.

I started learning photoshop, I wasn't that good but I was learning quickly. I had a few ideas, some people seemed to love it and with time, the store grew, yet in quality because my skills were improving and also in the size of my collection and of my groups.

I got more and more involved in the store and spent uncounted hours on it, way more that if it ever had been a real job. I kept my price policy fair, just because the aim, once again, was just to share. My groups grew again, I ended up taking my own sim, was invited to a ton of events, joined it, brang bargains, brang free stuff just because I felt like it was a good idea to give the opportunity to get items that were maybe too expensive for them for a cheaper price or for free.
Of course, bringing stuff on SL has a cost : texturing, scripts, tools, tier, satellite stores, advertising. It has a cost. So obviously I wasn't gonna have a freebie store. But I'd keep it as fair as possible.
Some want to get rich or die trying. That's not my case. Matter of choice.

My involvment in my project had an unexpected good result. My store stands on its own feet since a long, long time. People keep on coming, thanking me for the gifts they get through the events, and I have to say thank you to them too for supporting the store and helping me to be able to keep on learning, building and bringing new stuff.
Their support is essential.

My skills are still what is it. I yet don't make the most realistic pearl textures in Second Life but did I pretend I wanted to be realistic ? Do most of the SL shapes look realistic ? I doubt of it.
I spend time creating what I'm doing, I give energy to it. I could just do like some do and wait for money to come without ever doing events or ever giving anything for free. I don't. There wouldn't be anything interesting in doing what I'm doing if I couldn't share as much as possible. There are some graphists that are worshipped by the entire SL community, such as Mandala and Miel for the amazing textures they bring. I'm far from having their level and I'm perfectly fine with my limits. I didn't go to a graphists school, I learned it all by myself, I'm proud of what I do even though I know I'm far from perfection and have therefore no pretention.

It has become very easy on Second Life to pretend that every single designer is a greedy ass just making it for the money and who wants to steal money from your wallet. Let's make things clear : You'll purchase what you want to purchase. No one will force you to do so. No one forced my thousands of customers in purchasing anything at my store, ever. They did it because they found something they liked in it. And I'm thankful because without them, there would be no store.

It also became trendy, some times ago, to feel like when you're a shopper, you have the right to bitch at everything you see without any respect. "We want to be like Simon Conwell, if it sucks, we have got to tell it".
I hear it yet. "Freedom of speech". In 1998, when I hit the web, trolls on different mIRC channels were claiming "Freedom of speech" whenever they were banned for having been an ass. Same old story, same old premade warrant to cover any stupid, agressive, insulting, manipulative, diffaming, gossiping in the world.

So let me explain my strict opinion about this :
Insulting, agressing, manipulating, diffaming, gossiping, bitching, whatever you call it is NOT in ANY CASE just giving an opinion. It is just an evil and sick behavior that some took the habit to take thinking that nothing would happen to them. But they are wrong.

Not only because the behavior is quite pathetic in itself, but also because diffaming is also forbidden by international laws and by SL's TOS.
The fact it happens on another website than on Second Life's or on the grid doesn't change anything to it. This is still a behavior adopted in the aim to harm some Second Life Resident, store or "business" like some would call it.

The second thing is also that, as any website, mIRC channel, sim on Second Life, the access you are granted to a region is something conditioned to some rules. My rules are pretty much clear and have been written in my profile since years now and accessible on pick n°5 to everyone. In the case those rules are not respect, my first and most natural right is to eject or ban those I'd find not respecting these rules.
This happens, as I said, with any website. Do something against Facebook's rules, you're out. This is just something you don't have any choice but to accept.

So now, let's imagine that you own a fashion store in real life in which you are selling your handmade creations that you spent so much time in creating and that I start bitching at all you are making... Wouldn't you start feeling some antipathy against me ?
If some real life big brands start lawsuits about some diffamation in some magazines and get so much money from it, that just means that there is a reason and the reason is that diffaming, insulting, agressing is WRONG.

Some seem to have had a lot of free time to look at American Idol and get inspired on it but not to think about their behaviors.

Now, am I shocked by anything that The Rumor says ? No. Not about me. Because my aim has never been, as I said, to pretend that I'm the most awesome designer in SL. However, I have to admit that I am a human being and that I had to read, when I still read that blog, a lot of awful comments about some other designers' stuff, whether they are my friends or not, whether they have a satellite store on my sim or not.
And that, I don't accept it. I don't accept to see someone criticizing a shape pretending that you'll look like E.T. if you wear it. I don't accept rudeness and the violence of comments. I don't accept that self satisfaction that pushes some, to become more trendy and get some applauses by a few gossip girls, to criticize openly and in a NOT AT ALL constructive way what some people took hours or days to make.

This is just a behavior I can't stand.

I don't read The Rumor anymore and if I read it 10 times, it is much. However, I saw enough and I also have enough friends and good customers to know what's happening behind my back.

Would the Rumor's blogger who noticed she was banned from my store a few days ago have a bit of honor, she'd have IMed me so we can talk it about. I'd have told her my point of view, she'd have told her hers. We would have seen what we can do so things work better.

It wasn't done, she prefered to spread it somewhere else. Her choice. That won't make her get unbanned, nor her team.

Let's thanks those who had the smartness to understand my point of view and to defend it.

For the other ones who can't get that what they do is wrong, well, there is a word for them. But I won't tell it here ^_^.

[Update] I forgot to mention that I have a perfect conscience that being banned on an avatar doesn't mean being totally banned since we can't ban on IPs and that anyway, some IPs are dynamic. I therefore expect the use of alts. Means that the decision to ban the team was entierly SYMBOLIC more than a way to forbid them to do anything since anyway, there will always be ways to know what I'm releasing since it's available on flickr, on this blog, on anywhere else. Symbolic & congruent to my values.

I had promised to remake my nails in MOD & COPY and this is done !
I've been working on it for two days. No more nailpolish bottles. Just a wall now.
The nails are now organized in 4 different collections : Essential (plain nails), Pattern (pattern...), Stylish (different styles from goth to rock passing by french) & Male (well, for males! And no, that won't fit to a girl's hand).
We'll prolly come with more collections later.

Please refrain from purchasing nails packs from satellite stores at the moment because the packs haven't been modified out there yet.

Also, if you purchased in the past a NO MOD version of the nails, please feel free to drop a NOTECARD including your name, the name of the item(s) and the transaction history and drop it to our CSR : VirtualInsanity Resident.

[VIRTUAL/INSANITY] Nails

Just a quick information about our sculpted nails.
I'm currently updating the script in all of our nails and in all of our vendors so that the nails are MODIFYABLE.
The style of the vendors posters will also be remade very soon & the pricing will be adapted depending on the characteristics of the nails (1 or 2 versions, plain or pattern etc.).

Would you need a NEW version, modifyable of current nails you already own, please drop me a notecard including name, name of the product and a transaction history. If you don't have the transaction history, please send me a picture of your avatar wearing the nails.

NEW STUFF + WE EVENTS + HUNTS & stuff & blah

So.

First thing, we have 2 new ear plugs packs. Those have been added to the Ear Plugs collection now available in the main room on the left wall after the door.

Along with those, I added the What's new, Pussycat? earplugs - Meow. The event is over since midnight. About it, I got to say a huge thank you to my assistant, the fabulous designers of our mall and our bloggers for having been helping in making it an amazing event. There will be more !

About events, two hunts started recently : the Witch Hunt & Fallen & Depraved Hunt ! Two more gifts to get then.

Sophielle from SeraphimSL kindly took a picture of my item for the Witch Hunt. Here it is.

A lot of other hunts are still going on & soon will be starting the TOSL hunt & a next Zombie Popcorn. We'll also inform you about the next Bada Bing event in time.

What else to say ? Well, saturday's coming and with it, events as usual with TOSL this week.
I chosed a recently remade item.

During the past 2 years and a half, I've been working like we would work in Real Life on my personal project.

That's an everyday work from monday to sunday, at least 12 hours a day, including a lot of tasks : building, texturing, taking pictures, making posters, setting up vendors, setting up stores, remaking a full sim, working on a mall, organizing events, setting up split scripts, scripting, participating to events and work on a theme, making the advertising, holding a blog, social networking, answering customer service questions, answering to XYZ demand from anyone, answering different mall invitations, finding mall space, waiting that people answer, waiting that people answer, waiting that people answer, getting tons of IMs.

Every single designer in Second Life who's quite active in the fashion world knows what I'm talking about.

During these two years and a half, I took 2 weeks of holidays and had about a month on hiatus due to some serious RL reasons.

Today, I am facing again a serious, overwhelming, exhausting RL issue that needs me to take distance with Second Life.
It doesn't mean that I will be closing the store, stopping events, stopping to release stuff, etc.

What it means is that, for CLINICAL reasons, I need to take care of my health at first and to avoid stress & fatigue.
I can't work like a headless chicken anymore.
I am living at the moment in a brain fog. This means that I can't concentrate on things and tasks that a random healthy person would find very easy to do.
It also means that I forget a lot of things, even if I just did it.
It is making me feel guilty, it is stressing me out and making me work even more in a bad way. This is a negative circle and I have to get out of it. No one wants to see me calling "Zombie Popcorn", "Zombie Cop Porn". Well, with what I'm facing now, that could happen.

There are therefore stuff I'll can't handle in the next few weeks :

• Reading 20+ lines notecards.
That can sound lazy but the brain fog is a reason to it and my uncurable myopia is also a reason. Eyes issues get more intense with stress & at the moment, I go cross eyes while reading a 10 lines text. I'll make the effort to read a bit more but please, if you write to me, do it simple.

• Working on details & sharp stuff.
For the same reasons, I can't concentrate at the moment so this would be a very bad idea to ask me to work on details. If something is NOT mandatory, it will not be done or reported to later.

• Answering tons of IMs.
Whether I'm online or not, I really can't handle to receive customers IMs. We have a CSR for that and the name is on my profile since months. Even more now, I will NOT answer to customers IMs.
This is the same thing for events organizers, mall owners & bloggers I'm not used to work with. The CSR will take your notecards and if we're interested, we'll warn you.
People we are USED to work with (events, malls, bloggers) are free to IM but please, don't be too demanding.
About friends now, I'm removing my online status to 90% of my list. I'm keeping the ones that need to see me online. If I appear offline to you, that doesn't mean that I don't like you but that at the moment, I can't handle having conversations with you. The 10% remaining are people that NEED to contact me on a daily basis or often : my estate manager, my assistants, my closest people (daily basis), my events organizers, my malls owners, my own sim's designers, ...
If you still NEED to contact me, please notecard me.
I don't want to receive IMs asking me why I'm removing the online status. This is NOT a personal thing. If you take it this way, then I'll take as a personal thing to remove you. No need for soap operas atm.

• Handling other people's stress.
I have enough of mine. Some people on Second Life are extremely demanding and forget that we just are human beings with the same problems, needs, lack of time. If I have to face demanding people at the moment, I will not be patient.

Now here is what I will do :

• I'll only work between 1AM SLT & 8AM SLT.
Means that notercards will be answered at that time, building work, events work & stuff will be handled at that time. Not before, no later.

• I'll only work during the week.
Several studies show that people who work 10 hours a day once per week develop high stress level that can lead to different sicknesses. Working 12 hours a day on a 7 days basis is suicide. So I'm stopping that now.

• I'll keep on building.
Building is a creative outlet & not a work. So I'll keep on building but at my own rythm.

• I'll lower on events.
I have three hunts yet for october. It's ENOUGH. It means that I can't handle more. It will be Halloween soon and tons of events will happen. I'll can't handle that. Last XMAS, I had about 8 hunts going on. It was OVERWHELMING. I'll not work this way anymore.

• I'll be on SL to do other stuff.
You'll prolly see me online. I'll probably be AFK often or taking care of other things. So seeing me online doesn't mean that I'm working, no. But that doesn't mean either that I can handle conversations.

• I'll not explain the why inworld.
No, I won't. That means that for any question about this, I'll throw you the link to this blog post.

I hope that everyone will get this.
This is just a matter of physical limits.
I'd rather lower now than in 2 months having to close the store cos I wasn't able to handle the stress.

WEEK END EVENTS - Early Releases

Due to my dad's serious health state, I'll have to travel to my hometown and may stay there for a few days and at least the time required so we are sure of what's going on and if he'll need surgery or not. It means that I'm not sure that I'll be able to be online to set up my items for this week-end's events.
I'm leaving home in about 6 hours and I'll NOT have a web connection at the place I'll be staying at. I may be able to connect on Facebook but not on SL because my parent's connection is miserable.
I'm therefore releasing the VENTA EVENTA & SBS items way earlier than it is supposed to be just because :
1) I worked on it,
2) I don't want people to do not access to a bargain due to this.
I hope to be back soon with reassuring news about my dad and to be finally able to rest my mind.
For now, please bare with me. Customer service WILL be late. There is nothing more I can do to help since my assistant is actually my husband and is as worried as me and as gone as I am. Thanks for your patience.

WHAT'S NEW, PUSSYCAT ? Event is a huge success, we can tell it and thank all the merchants in the mall for their investment in making of a great event, to my dear assistant, Suriko, to the bloggers who kindly helped & of course to the visitors. We hope that this event will have helped you in discovering new stores or new items that you'll appreciate.

Anyway, this is not it. Because it's never it.

This week-end is the right time for other week-end events starting by La Venta Eventa. I'll be covering Loulou&co, its owner being gone on holiday (lucky, lucky girl).
Here is the item. This is a remake of older piercings. I've been remaking the textures, the positionning, the size of the prims & the shadows to make it look more actual. No, no, not more realistic cause I don't give a fuck about being realistic on Second Life or my avi would gain 20 pounds at least. ^^

I'm also going to be in TOSL for this WITCH week. I chose the only witches related tattoo I have in the store, The Runes. Ok, ok, that's not actual nordic runes but more of russian ones. Anyways, it's a tattoo and it was on a sale just one year ago when it was released and I think it's a good time for a bargain on it since I still love to wear it & it still has an amazing success.

New release, too ! Well it's a remake.

It is a bit more than midnight SLT & our first official big time event has started.
The aim ? Finding out what's new in our mall stores !
8 merchants released one or more item(s) for 65L$ only. Those items are NEW & exclusive for the time of the event (two weeks). It won't get sold at their mainstores.

The vendors : Repulse, Hysteria, Bubble, Sakide, Loulou&co, Razorblade Jacket, SNG & [VIRTUAL/INSANITY] of course.
The items : It is representative of our mall, you'll can find a ton of different things in it ! Tops, thongs, nails, earplugs, ankleboots, eyes, tattoos, ... See below for a preview.

When ? It starts NOW and ends in 2 weeks, so you have enough time to shop. If you don't know the merchants stores yet or want to know what's new out there, check it out ! You have all your time to do so.

We are starting on Sept 1st with WHAT'S NEW, PUSSYCAT ?
This is a special sale event on a NEW & EXCLUSIVE event that will only be sold @BADA BING until the end of the event.
The price of each item will be 65L$.

We're having a big time week end with a NEW COLLECTION RELEASE, 3 events and one sale.

Let's start with the new release : NYAN COLLECTION.

These items are totally remade and textures have been hand drawn from scratch. However, since it is inspired by NYAN cat, I felt like the price would be low so you don't pay the concept but just the textures.

AND here comes LA VENTA EVENTA with a new make-up : Shimmering make-up brang in 8 colors. This is a glittery eye shadow.

Let's not talk about SUPER BARGAIN SATURDAY with a NEW nails set called STAMP. This is now a second generation nails set since it's MOD and the script is less heavy. It can now be adapted to any hand even if the 10, 20, 30 presets are still given to help you fitting faster.

NEW RELEASE - TOSL - DELIGHT Collection

The air has started to smell rotten since a few months on SL, if you refer to my previous post.

Luckily enough, I have my bunch of amazing bloggers including Dagmar, Suriko, Vixxie, Whisper & all of those who regularly blog my stuff whether they are official bloggers or not... Those people are amazing and share their own vision of style using my items, every single of them in their own way. It's amazing to have you, guys !

Anyway, I found out recently about http://seraphimsl.com/ . Not only they propose to blog the regular events items but also do they do it in a good way, without any provocation, without any need to criticize in a mean way designers.

I had the chance to talk today to one of the bloggers, Vixen Thibedeau today, who seems to me as a very constructive and nice person. She kindly added this blog to her blog roll and I'm doing the same right now.

I hope that people who love fashion in Second Life and love creativity will support this blog. The aim isn't to dictate what people should love or hate but to give them an easy way to shop through the high number of events & to let them have their own opinion.

In a world in which we are everyday told what to think and do, this is a relief.

My humor doesn't fit your rumor...

I'm sorry. I'm not an english native speaker and will probably have issues making myself clear in this post. So I decided to start by apologising for the grammar mistakes, the vocabulary issues & all you'll can find in this post that will make it less understandable.

However, I have to admit it. Since I was able to talk, I was the way I still am today, about 30 years later.
Most of the babies first word are "papa", "dada", depending on the place they get born.
Mine was : "I'm sorry to have to tell that this woman really is a bitch".

Nah... I'm exagerating. I'm not such a meanie.

Anyways, I really NEVER liked people who badmouth @others. The kind of people who unfairly judge people, who talk down to others, who pretend they would do SO much better.

I saw that too much at high school and sadly, I saw it happening in Second Life since The Rumor was born.

Oh, accusing a single blog would give them way too much importance. I think that the problem is quite bigger than that. The problem is the same since I joined the web in 1998 but also appears in RL.

People always want to be popular. Instead of being kind, open minded, good friends, they'd rather destroy, bash, bully people. Instead of learning things and building things, they'd rather fuck up everything around to show "hey look how strong I am".

As long as on SL, some people will keep on thinking that they are better than others just because they make something trendy, there will be issues.
As long as on SL, designers will compare each other, there will be problems.
As long as on SL, customers will consider that designers are their ennemies, making them pay bad for stuff that aren't worth a shit, there will be issues.
As long as some bloggers will write shit about what you build, not even knowing your aim & what are your original skills, there will be problems again.

People should just live for themselves & try to be kind for a while.

Criticize is always a good thing as long as it is CONSTRUCTIVE & FAIR. If you never touched to a prim and can't make the half of what X or Y store owner is able to do, then why should you feel authorized to be mean ?

There is nothing smart in it, no good intention, nothing that brings something good. The only effect is to see some events organizers getting scared at receiving a bad comment from a "famous" (250 ppl on the SL group isn't what I would call famous) blog.

And the effect is kinda sad on designers. A designer who will read that crap will prolly feel bad of it and start to wonder why people talk bad about his hard work. He'll start conforming to what he's expected to make just to avoid criticizes.

I always refused to go this way cos it is the way I am. I'm not going to start to make vintage cos it's trendy. I'm not gonna start licking some people's ass just cos they are trendy. I don't give a shit about being popular. I give a shit about being myself, building stuff I love and sharing it while keeping learning graphism, which isn't my real job.

In 3 years, I learned a lot about graphism and I never had touched to photoshop before. A lot of people do the same everyday cos they aren't professional graphists on SL, they are just people who want to have fun and create something, learn and share. Period.

If you don't love what I do, or what my friends do, that's all fine. I never forced anyone with a gun on the temple to buy anything in my store. Nor will I except if I'm asked to.

Shopping is a matter of choice. I do it everyday. I love some haircuts, dislike some others, will buy a skin and discard another, even from my favorite designers.

I'll not go to their stores and yell "oh god how ugly is that". It's a matter of respect.

Some people on SL build because they can't work RL. They are sick or disabled and can't do anything else of their days so they'll do it to keep a work life.
Some people build on SL just because they find it fun.
Some do it for the money, yes and they are rarer but still deserve respect.

Everyone does.

Since it existed, the Rumor has never been respectuous. Some of its bloggers are and have been. I respect their work. However, I'll never respect people who just spend their lives criticizing people in a mean way.

From now on, The Rumor isn't welcome @my sim anymore.

And no, I don't owe them anything because I never asked them to blog my stuff nor to talk shit about it or about my friends' stuff.
I never have been renting at their sim because I had a repulsion for that blog.

So there we are, I think SL would be way more beautiful without that popularity contest. Feel free to criticize my choice if you want to, anyway it seems like all of what some people can do is criticizing and trying to gain power & popularity by being bitches.

That is NOT anymore my problem. Good riddance !

PS : I have well conscience that whoever I ban, people have alts and will still be able to access my sim in other ways than on their mains. No need to snicker when those people will. I will not be able either to forbid them to blog my shit and badmouth about it. But this post and my decision is just symbolic of my clear opinion about those people. It means no cooperation, no events together, nothing to do with them. Am I making myself clear enough or do I need to get rude ? ^^

I remade a piercings set I had made last year. It helps me noticing where I'm improving or not. So that's what I brang for half the price.
BTW, I'm remaking all my old piercings but I take it slow.

3° TOSL

For TOSL, this week, the theme is RUBY RED.
I decided to set a bag because I thought that accessories makers would go for jewelry... So I decided that a bag wasn't a bad idea and since I love this one, here it is for 50L only.

There we are ! After a few weeks of hard work, the mainstore & the new sim are finally done !
Except for a few details (nothing is never perfect & some vendors of the mall still need to set up), we are now ready to go.

First thing : let's thank Snookie Larnia for the wonderful work she brang in helping us to get the mainstore of our dreams ! You're amazing.

Second thing : we are welcoming THREE new vendors in our mall and those are friends : Hysteria by Electra Shadowcry (tattoos, face tattoos, accessories), SNG by Isis Zamin (former neko wonderland, she brings accessories & clothes) & Sweet'n'Tart by Tindle Zepp (Skins, accessories & more).

The other vendors remain : Loulou&co, Sassy Kitty (soon rebranding), Bubble, Razorblade Jacket, Repulse & Ancayi of course (thanks to Cagalli Tokyoska for bringing the temporary store, it helped more than you can imagine).

It means that we will have : a ton of jewelry, clothes, accessories, tats, gore/dark stuff but also girly items, skins, make ups & a lot more around the mall so please, really, visit it ! ^_^ It will be an amazing place to shop at for boys and girls.

This week's theme is INDEPENDANCE DAY.
I therefore thought about creating something very american, unlike me with special cosmetics to celebrate !

The pack's normal price isn't expensive, since it's a seasonal item : it's 80L for 2 styles nails & an eye make-up.
However, for TOSL it will be half price, 40L.

The old store & mall are now ... closed ! Farewell, farewell old haunted mansion... Our new sim lay out and new mainstore are under construction at the moment. We ask you to DO NOT BE CURIOUS ;-). It will come soon !
Anyway, we have been working with the help of Cagalli Tokyoska on a temporary mainstore. Thanks to Cagalli (Ancayi's owner) for her precious help in making it a temporary but yet awesome place ^-^
From now and until the sim is ready, we'll welcome you directly to the temporary skybox. No need to seek for a new LM or SLURL, the landing point leads you directly to the place !

Time for a change !

Long months have passed since we set up our home on our sim, Bada Bing.
A few designers joined our mall since then & we had a few events on the sim.

However, summer has come and we feel the need for a change.

We took the decision to totally remodel the sim & main store, to bring a new mall and a few new vendors.

The aim is of course to get the store bigger since, with time, our collection is getting of course, bigger but also to bring changes, to make the sim more attractive so you enjoy shopping in our store but also in our mall.

During the next days, we'll transfer the mainstore into a skybox. The mall vendors will NOT be accessible @Bada Bing anymore until the sim is done.

We'll be working downstairs while our events keep running in the skybox.

We hope to be done with it around the 10th-15th july. We cannot be sure of this though and prefer to do it slow than to do it bad.

We are sure you'll be satisfied of the new sim when the time comes for you to first visit it.

all the team will be on holiday from 27th may to 6th june. Our CSR will take care of your questions when we're back so please don't worry if we take a bit more of delay than usual. We only go one week per year and of course, each year, that's when problems happen. We'll deal with it when back !

However, some friends accepted to help us :
1) to rez our event items,
2) to restart our sim & ban grieffers if needed.

We therefore will have a TOSL & SBS item for the 28th may (saturday).

Just a little post about affiliate vendors & franchises.

It seems like a few people have been purchasing affiliate or franchise vendors sold under the name "Insane".

[VIRTUAL/INSANITY] doesn't have anything to do with that and whoever tells you the opposite is a greedy liar that will make you spend linden for content that isn't ours, bad content or even stolen content.

We never had affiliate vendors, we don't have affiliate vendors, we will never have affiliate vendors.

Our reasons are simple : Resellers can't guarantee to install the vendors in quality places, lagfree, stolen content free. We wouldn't have any control over it and we don't even imagine ever doing it.

So, please, if you got sold some affiliate vendors by someone who pretends to be one member of our team, just note that [VIRTUAL/INSANITY]'s designers are Loviathar Hellman & Moolfryt Klang and that our assistants and CSR are Hyel Blackheart & VirtualInsanity Resident.
No one else is ever allowed to sell you anything related to our store.

Thanks to report to us the stolen content you can find or the temptatives to sell you some items or vendors in our names.
